Mt. Biking: Two River - Deben to Orwell Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered: 18 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
With today sunny and got with hopefully some wind tomorrow it was nice to
get out on the bikes. After a nice morning at home Mag packed lunch, a
cream tea! we are supposed to be watching what we eat as we put on a few
pounds 'Up North' but had it left over from the weekend so wanted to get
rid of it and yummy it was too:)
Started off along the prom which luckily was not too busy, a short section
of road to The Dip and back on the prom to the River Deben where we spot a
seal. A quick stop off at The Ferry to watch the crabing action, a bit
quiet so headed out on the River path past the house boats. With the purple
sea heather out it was very pretty and were soon at Kings Fleet. With no
fishermen about we found a fishing stage for our picnic and watch the many
varieties of dragonflies and a bit of swan wars as a grumpy male sees off a
dozen youngsters!
We continue along country lanes, across the Cherry tree track where a big
machine is harvesting parsley. On Gulpher Road Mag heads to the Grove but I
miss the turning and go all the way to the golf club to check the wind as
it seemed to have picked up. Wind still light so biked all the way to the
viewing point on the River Orwell. Back across Landguard Nature Reserve
with Al Wiz out windsurfing I make it home knackered with a delicious roast
chicken in the oven:)
